Former Springbok Rugby star Brent Russell – PX2™ Brand Ambassador
Professional Rugby player, Brent Russell endorses PX2™
Former Springbok Rugby legend, Brent Russell, who currently plays 1st class Rugby in France was first exposed to The Pacific Institute’s materials back when he was a Springbok in training.
There is little doubt as to the natural talent of Russell, who has always had a flare for sport throughout his life. Tim Noakes once commented that Brent’s spark in game situations and lightning decision-making abilities are probably something that he himself can’t quite explain. When I questioned Brent about this, he confirmed absolutely, that this is very true : “I just don’t know how I do some of the things I do”, he told me.
Of course, thanks to our curriculum, Brent developed a far greater understanding of the way high performance people operate, (in this case “free-flowing” performance sub-consciously), which Brent was then able to apply and condition himself with.
We are delighted that Brent is endorsing our products and processes – As a Performance coach at PX2, it is a privilege to play a mental coach role in his life, and we aim to hopefully continue to add tools to his own toolbox.

We need more sceptics in this world!
If I said to you that we need more sceptics in this world, you’d probably argue with me that I’m wrong – Well, in a way, if you have argued with me in your mind, then you are demonstrating exactly my point!
I’m talking about a scepticism that challenges a thought, belief or reality before it becomes a part of me – At PX2 we call this “giving sanction”. Imagine how powerful it might be for a naive young teenager to challenge the belief “You are a failure who will never amount to anything.”
I’m calling for that kind of scepticism – Challenge other people’s “reality” about you before letting it become your reality. Even if it is an authority speaking. Our minds are servo-mechanisms, in that they take literally whatever we tell it. So therefore be sceptical about what you let shape you. Similarly to my Self-talk blog recently, we move towards and become like that which we think about. You are the gatekeeper to your reality.
Be sceptical!

I challenge you to not think of a pink elephant flying in the sky – Oops, too late.
PX2™ principle: “Words trigger pictures, which bring about emotion”.
Why is this important, and how can we use it effectively in our own thinking?
Well, we need to be very careful about the words we use on a daily basis. both spoken and thought, because in our minds they form the mental images and pictures we think about. Humans move towards and become like what we think about, especially if we dwell on it!
So give yourself the vision you want to move towards – Do this by carefully using the words that trigger what it is you want. We call this Positive Self Talk!
Happy thinking.

How circus elephants are trained – The Power of Belief!
Have you ever been told how they train a circus elephant?
Well, it starts when they take a baby elephant, and tie a rope around its hind leg, and attach it to a stake in the ground. The baby fights and fights, trying to pull the rope free, but it does not have the strength to do so. It continues to try, sometimes for days, expending all its energy, until one day, it stops trying – It has finally learnt that it is unable to pull free.

Attempts of a young one.
You know, as that elephant grows up, the circus handler simply makes the loop on it’s leg wider using the same rope even until it is an adult. And you know what? That elephant never tries again to break free. it has learnt the “truth” that it is unable to do so. It may as well be a thick chain, because the elephant has learnt that it is futile to even attempt to pull it out the ground.

THE POWER OF BELIEF
I wonder, reader, if there is perhaps an elephant in your life; an aspect of your being, that “learnt” while it was young that it can never break free. May I suggest that this might be a false “truth”!
Perhaps you have friends, family or colleagues that are like the elephant – Chained to the ground with all that potential un-released! Perhaps you can think of several people in our nation that unknowingly live their lives in such a way.
Well at PX2® we teach people how to break free, and rampage like the giant elephants they were intended to be! We choose to look for the potential in people, even if they don’t see it themselves.

Holiday default settings
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from team PX2 South Africa.
Remember the Reason for the Season, and take hold of the opportunities afforded you this coming 2011. Why not seize the day… day after day, and get to this time next year and be fully satisfied that you have sucked the marrow out of life!
Remember that new year’s resolutions will not work unless you change the default – Like an autopilot, you can over-ride it consciously, but as soon as you let go of the steering wheel you go back to the default setting. The way to change is to create a new default setting.
How? Well, that’s what you learn on PX2.
Regards,
Greig

Efficacy lessons – Should daddy let her climb the stairs ?
The way efficacy is built, and how Fear can prevent growth
While watching my 9 month old daughter explore the world and begin to start gaining her balance, I notice that she is gaining a greater and greater propensity to become adventurous. And why shouldn’t she – As her awareness to the world is expanded, she wants to gain new experiences and knowledge and satisfy her curiosity; and all this without the notion of consequence!
She knows not the pain of falling down the stairs, and has no internal “alarm bell” cautioning her against the impending peril. Now as a loving father, I and her mom are her “alarm bell”. We do not allow her to do things unaided that could cause significant damage. But where do we draw the line? I’ve had to wrestle myself away from catching her every stumble, because her efficacy is built in trying and failing and trying again!
But I do draw the line at things like allowing my baby to experiment with the power socket, open the steak knife drawer, eat dog pooh (as long as I can get to her in time), and in this particular instance, climb the stairs. However, the dichotomy is that I must not stunt her adventure by forbidding her to climb, because that would stunt her efficacy-potential (or growth).
So my conclusion is that everything is an opportunity to teach a lesson in efficacy. I teach my daughter that she should only climb the stairs when mom or dad are there to help her because right now she’s not ready to do so safely on her own.
Watch as I film her venture upstairs… and even catch her as she falls…

Changing Education Paradigms
Chairman of Educor (Damelin etc), Leo Chetty recently played this clip to his leader meeting, which Greig Wegerle attended. Sir Ken Robinson’s RSA Animate highlights the need to be thinking differently… What a brilliant illustration of a fascinating subject.
We believe PX2 can facilitate this change of thinking…
